Canines Vote For Favorite Candidates at BARKTHEVOTE.org

Pooch Press Conference Promotes Voter Registration on You Tube
“A Poll Is Not Just A Place To Pee” Barks Spokes Dog, Schmitty

Concerned canines are finding their voice and hounding voters to go to the polls this election season by barking their votes online at www.BARKTHEVOTE.org. Very early returns show doggie votes have already been cast in 14 states by more than 15 different breeds. Hillary leads the Presidential pack at 34%, followed by McCain at 29% and Obama at 25% with the remaining 12% undecided at this offbeat new web site where politically informed pups are also weighing in with their own thoughts on the election.

Sigmund, a Bulldog from Kansas cast his vote for McCain saying, "He is a bone-a-fide war hero who loves his country." Voting for Hilary, a Boston Terrier named Killer from Illinois said, "My humans could take us anywhere because gas was cheap eight years ago. There was peace in the world. My humans want life back like it was eight years ago." Another McCain voter, Sassy, a Beagle from TN says, "The two democratic nominees aren't worth the grass I poop on. So, I have to go with what's left. I'm not saying he's the best, but I'm not on the ballot!" Exquisite Giselle, a Yorkie from FL gives a four paws up for Obama barking, "He is astute, smart and for ALL people and pets!!!" And Pinita, a Chihuahua from San Juan, PR, pragmatically states, "May the best one win."

Spokes dog and inspiration for BARK THE VOTE (BTV) is Schmitty, the Real New Yorkie. Having just held her first BTV Press Conference, Schmitty is getting a "four paws up" from You Tube viewers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r8DFmapZaY ). Schmitty is also "The Voice of the Canine Constituency," taking a stand on such topics as Happiness For All, Health Care, The Environment, Education, The Economy, Embracing Diversity ("Don't judge a dog by its spots") and Homeland Security. For a transcript of Schmitty's BTV platform, go to: http://www.barkthevote.org/schmittys-platform.html

BTV T-shirts and buttons are available at www.barkthevote.org with proceeds going to the DOGS WHO CARE Foundation to benefit animal shelters nationwide.

Dedicated to taking a bite out of voter apathy, this non-partisan Get Out The Vote campaign is the brain puppy of New Yorker, Elly McGuire. McGuire says, "44.8 million US homes have at least one dog in the family. If every dog would walk their human companion to the polls in November, a lot more people would "exercise" their right to vote. And that's a good thing. I figure the more pet loving folks that vote, the kinder, more caring a country it will be.”

Schmitty is no stranger to campaigning for a cause. She has appeared nationally on The Ellen Show, ACCESS Hollywood, even Japanese TV to “bark” about DOGS WHO CARE, the foundation to help
pets in need find loving homes started after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Schmitty and the BTV team will also be on tour late this summer and into the fall on the BARK THE VOTE – Join The Party Bus making appearances at events and shelters across the country. The tour will kick off in time to travel to the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in Denver and Minneapolis at the end of the summer.

David Joel, President of Kool Dawg Tees in SC, has posted a BARK THE VOTE header on his company’s web site. He says, “BARK THE VOTE provides Kool Dawg Tees with an opportunity to elevate awareness on the importance of our clients to exercise their patriotic duty to participate in the election process by voting for the candidate of their choice via a non partial, fun medium. It is going to
be a very exciting year.”
