5 Pound Pooch Unveils Campaign Platform
Canine Constituency Finds A Voice!

Schmitty Takes a Stand/Sit/Stay on the Environment

Concerned canines are finding their voice and hounding voters to go to the polls this election season by barking their votes online at www.BARKTHEVOTE.org .

Having just held the first BARK THE VOTE Press Conference (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r8DFmapZaY), four legged activist and spokedog Schmitty, The Real New Yorkie has now unveiled the BARK THE VOTE Campaign Platform.

As The Voice of the Canine Constituency, Schmitty takes a stand on national issues like: The Environment, ("Don't eat the yellow snow" . . . "Now we should say - Watch out  for the pink stuff!")," Embracing Diversity ("Don't judge a dog by its spots")"  Education, ( "It's not about biting and fighting . . . it's all about licking and loving"). Other topics include The Economy, Embracing Diversity, Homeland Security and Happiness for All.  Bloggers are buzzing about the pooch platform.  Patric St. Michel at the North By NorthWestern blog writes, "I've never heard better words blogged by a dog." (http://www.barkthevote.org/websites-a-blogs/10-websites-a-blogs/16-north-by-northwestern.html) For a transcript of Schmitty's BARK THE VOTE platform, go to: http://www.barkthevote.org/schmittys-platform.html

Dedicated to taking a bite out of voter apathy, this non-partisan Get Out The Vote campaign is the brain puppy of New Yorker, Elly McGuire. McGuire says, "44.8 million US homes have at least one dog in the family. If every dog would walk their human companion to the polls in November, a lot more people would "exercise" their right to vote. And that's a good thing. I figure the more pet loving folks that vote, the kinder, more caring a country it will be."

Schmitty and the BARK THE VOTE team will be touring late this summer through the election on the Join The Party - BARK THE VOTE RV holding "pup rallies," and visiting shelters across the country. The tour will include campaign stops at the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in Denver and Minneapolis.

BARK THE VOTE tee shirts and buttons are available at www.BARKTHEVOTE.org with proceeds going to the DOGS WHO CARE Foundation to benefit animal shelters nationwide.

Schmitty is no stranger to campaigning for a cause. After 9/11, Schmitty posed for a line of  greeting cards to raise money for the Uniformed Firefighters Association Scholarship Fund.  Schmitty has appeared nationally on The Ellen Show, ACCESS Hollywood, FOX News . . . even Japanese TV to "bark" about DOGS WHO CARE, the foundation to help pets in need find loving homes started after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

David Joel, President of Kool Dawg Tees in SC, has posted a BARK THE VOTE header on his company's web site. He says, "BARK THE VOTE provides Kool Dawg Tees with an opportunity to elevate awareness on the importance of our clients to exercise their patriotic duty to participate in the election process by voting for the candidate of their choice via a non partial, fun medium."
